Artist statement

I’ve discovered that I really enjoy creating patterns, and keep coming back to trees, so part of me leans to the abstract. Then there is a great joy in painting a portrait in oils, because of the reception when I give it to my subject. I like drawing faces as well, and can get a good likeness in about 10 mins. So I do this at the Foodbank where I’m there to be a listening ear, and on train journeys, where it’s a great conversation starter. Landscape is not my best skill. I can usually make a fair attempt at a total copy...... but not create a special and different composition from it. I’m still learning – a lot !
