Workshop: Drawing Animals in dry medium with Becky Gouverneur

Saturday, 24th February 2024
10:00am to 4:00pm
Charles Morris Hall, Tyttenhanger Green, Tyttenhanger, ST ALBANS, Hertfordshire, AL4 0RN

The hall has plenty of free parking.

The Workshop:

A one day workshop covering techniques focusing on exploring a range of specialist charcoal techniques developed and used by Becky in her work to create highly detailed and realistic animal drawings. This course is suitable for absolute beginners to drawing or more experienced artists who wish to begin to explore charcoal or develop their current skill base. This course focuses on the rendering techniques in charcoal, as opposed to the drawing/drafting skills and, as such, for the main drawing we will begin with a traced image to allow more time to learn and practice the charcoal rendering techniques, as this can be a lengthy process!

The Tutor:

Becky is a fully qualified art teacher in both secondary and adult education with experience in a wide variety of fields including art, photography and textiles. She has a relaxed, friendly style of teaching which will put you at ease and allow you to progress at your own pace while exploring and developing new skills and techniques. Becky is known for her highly detailed charcoal and pencil drawings of animals. She is a regular visiting artist and contributor to the SAA with magazine articles, teaching workshops and demos and has many videos with their On Demand service. She also demonstrates for art societies across the UK and exhibits in several galleries.

What you need to bring:
  • Your lunch and a mug for drinks which will be provided.
  • If you have any of the following, please bring them along. Some brushes, charcoal, and a Pierre Noir pencil will be particularly helpful. However, the tutor will have some materials that you can purchase from her, so please bring some cash if you cannot get hold of everything:
